Wojciech Marczewski

Wojciech Szczęsny Marczewski (born February 28, 1944 in Łódź) is a Polish film director and screenwriter, academic teacher, and recipient of the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. Initially, he collaborated with the Se-Ma-For Small Film Studio and the "Czołówka" Film Studio. Later, as part of the "Tor" Film Studio, he directed critically acclaimed films about growing up in oppressive systems: Nightmares (1978), set during the Kulturkampf era in the Prussian Partition, and Shivers (1981, FIPRESCI Award at the Berlin International Film Festival).
